PIDC Breaks Ground on 3.3MW Combined Heat & Power Plant for Hollingsworth & Vose
PIDC is providing design/build services for a new Combined Heat and Power Plant for Hollingsworth and Vose at their Groton, Massachusetts paper mill. The project shall generate the majority of power needs on site while increasing the overall plant efficiency. The project includes installation of a 3.3MW Solar gas turbine and a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) that combined provide the mill with the majority of their power needs and 100% of their steam load. The system will operate electrically paralleled to the National Grid electric system. In addition to the installation of the new equipment the project requirements include federal, state and local permitting, coordination with local utilities (NGRID), demolition of existing equipment and buildings as well as construction of a new building to house the CHP.
