115kV High Voltage Switchyard & Tieline Project
Project Partner: R.G. Vanderweil Engineers, LLP | Boston, MA
PIDC provided a full complement of construction/project management services for Broadrock’s combined cycle landfill-gas-to-energy (LFGTE) plant. The project included the construction, commissioning, test and turnover of a new 115kV electrical switchyard and transmission line — along with the coordination of final engineering documents and the securement of local permits.
The LFGTE plant was expanded to a total output of 32 MW, requiring a new 115kV electrical interconnect to transmission line between the Drumrock and Hartford Avenue substations owned by New England Power Company, a division of National Grid.
Through effective planning and procurement — including numerous long-lead purchases — PIDC delivered the $9M project under budget. We also met the backfeed available milestone for the expanded plant, which was inspected, tested and accepted by National Grid.
