Arnold Hall Conference Center •  Pembroke, MA
Demolition, Renovations & Site Improvements
Architect: George O’Neill Associates

After demolishing the existing building to reveal a stunning view of the local Ashford Pond, PIDC performed major site improvements and installations: including a new patio, steps, walkways, lighting and irrigation system. The property owner was kept informed throughout the construction process via weekly photo updates — and frequent progress presentations were made to board members.

Project highlights include:

  • Construction of a 100-foot service tunnel connecting the main house and cottage — which is both climate-controlled and ADA-compliant
  • Saved the client over $10,000 by using drainage and waterproofing in the service tunnel construction
  • Renovated the basement of the main house, built in 1727, to provide new storage space
  • Installed 10,000 sf of lawn and 100 plantings, and developed a plan for the patio frost wall and waterproofing
  • Collaborated with the owner and local subcontractor to prepare the grounds for the busy summer season. This included laying down 5,000 sf of sod, at no extra cost

In the midst of scenic views and peaceful meadows, Arnold Hall Conference Center is home to a variety of life-enriching activities for both men and women. Conducted by priests of Opus Dei, a personal Prelature of the Catholic Church, these activities include retreats and workshops, professional training in hospitality and home management, and classes in Christian doctrine.
